We chose speed dating as our design process because of the quick turn around for the first deliverable.  To start, we brainstormed 50 ideas to visualize the timeline for the Desert RATS mobile device.  Some of the concepts were more “timeline”-esque than others, but they all aimed to communicate the plan as described by sequenced activities.

While we brainstormed, we kept in mind 3 of our Guiding Principles that we decided applied to Desert Rats, and reviewed various design ideas from spring semester and the initial round of brainstorming.  We also constructed an arm-mounted prototype with similar dimensions to remind us of the physical considerations.

After reviewing our concepts internally, we presented to our client to get some early validation and feedback.  They responded pretty positive to several, and we used that feed back in the selection of 4 concepts to move forward with.  The next steps are to construct scenarios and low fidelity prototypes for needs validation. After a round of user feedback, we’ll select one concept to develop further and hand off to the Desert RATS team on June 7th.
